Celebrating, this year, its seventh consecutive edition, Marmomacc Meets Design (MMD) - a project coordinated by Evelina Bazzo on behalf of VeronaFiere - continues to investigate the potential and versatility of stone materials through fertile relationships combining the experience of stone sector companies and the creativity of international designers. Under the banner of an approach to innovation that, as always, searches for new interpretations of a noble and ancient material that is, nevertheless, extremely ductile in responding to variegated contemporary requirements, this year the project focuses on one of the most important themes in current society: sustainability.
As a natural material, marble embraces an aesthetic, cultural and design heritage ensuring extraordinary harmony with this revival of ecological, environmental and landscape concerns.
These concerns have deeply ethical roots that, by now, have even influenced the worlds of fashion, lifestyle, architecture and interior design with new sensitivity. In this context, which is characteristic of a society that strongly demands renewed and aware optimism, the rediscovery of natural materials also means the return of colour, now extended to all areas of daily life.

In this exhibition are present Liberi in cucina, the project for free standing stainless steel kitchens that may be configured to fit any space and taste.
Side by side, lined up against the wall, or facing one another within the space, or even used as an island, the modules, which range in length from 70 to 280 cm, offer an ample range of solutions, allowing the kitchen to evolve over time, by progressively adding new features, changing its own configuration as its needs and requirements grow, or accompanying the inhabitants to new spaces and new situations. They are built in 19/10 nickel chrome stainless steel with Corian®, wood or steel top.

The assignment of the Special Mention of the ADI Compasso d’Oro Award, the most famous and sought after Award on an international scale since 1961, sees Marmomacc earn yet further important recognition alongside the previous Business Research selection published in the ADI Design Index 2010.
The International Jury appointed by ADI, comprising eight members and chaired by Arturo Dell'Acqua Bellavitis, met last 31 May to examine the projects on show and, in assigning a Special Mention for the XXII edition of the Gold Compass Award to Marmomacc, highlighted how an Exhibition dedicated to a single material can achieve important heights through a series of cultural initiatives embracing design, architecture and exhibits in which fundamental certainties are also ensured through the value of education and training.
The “Made in Italy and National Identity” exhibition held in the Pelanda will host all the projects involved in the competition until 25 September and is part of the “Uniqueness of Italy” organised by the Valore Italia Foundation value for the 150th anniversary celebrations of the Unity of Italy.
