08.06.2017 io.T BY TECNO WINS THE "SALONE DEL MOBILE.MILANO AWARD 2017"

The io.T Intelligence of Tecno smart system of connected furnishings has won the prestigious “Salone del Mobile Milano Award” as best Workplace3.0 product.

The international jury explained their decision to Tecno as follows: “because of the masterful combination of technological, innovative and functional elements with the need for human relations demanded by the contemporary office.”

Tecno picked up on the insight of studio Gtp and set up a working group of experts in the sector, working on the io.T project for two years, to join their tangible “analogue” experience and prowess to the intangible experience and excellence of the digital world. Achieving an outright first in the world of design, Tecno thus took on the challenge of the Internet of Things and Digital Industry 4.0, continuing along the path of technological development undertaken by the company from its beginnings.

The io.T Intelligence of Tecno system makes furnishings smart, integrated and connected: it allows furnishings to recognise their users and to dialogue with computer networks, devices and hubs, simultaneously acquiring information to enhance the well-being of the person and overall building management. The intelligence of Tecno simplifies and enhances work everywhere, whenever it may be, and promotes relationships and interpersonal exchange, still an important and essential requirement.

The award, presented yesterday evening at the Triennale di Milano and now in its second edition, features three nominations for each of the 8 categories that showcase the companies, designers and installations that have made the greatest contribution to affirming the international appeal of the event and its contribution to promoting creativity, innovation and new visions.

Giuliano Mosconi, Tecno Chairman and CEO, gave the following comment: «This award confirms Tecno’s identity as a ‘Project Factory’: through high-quality products that blend the culture of craftsmanship with contemporary technologies, the company is expanding its experience, thinking not only in terms of industry, but of design, bringing together –today – areas like technology with IT, the world of the office with comfort and new lifestyles and the hybridisation of public and private.»

04.04.2017 Umbrella for the Tracing Identity project by De Castelli

For Salone del Mobile 2017 De Castelli presents TRACING IDENTITY, a project that involves seven female designers, different one from the other for age, origins and approach, who have created a collection of metal furniture characterized by a strong emotional allure. Alessandra Baldereschi, Nathalie Dewez, Constance Guisset, Francesca Lanzavecchia, Donata Paruccini, Elena Salmistraro, Nika Zupanc have given value to metal and its potential, enhancing De Castelli finishes with empathic and narrative projects.

De Castelli invited a group of female designers with strong interpretive and intimate visions for creating a special collection of interior elements, able to dispel the myth that metal is cold, uncommunicative and strictly linked to male nature. Each piece has a precise use and a strong volumetric presence.

Screens, cabinets, tables and bookcases clearly show the handcrafting skills of De Castelli, becoming also the opportunity for trying new finishes and types of manufacturing. The seven designers worked enthusiastically at De Castelli production site, together with skilled workers and innovative technologies.

Tracing Identity is a challenging project that is presented also by a video. It will be the central issue of a publication and of an open debate already scheduled for June 2017, both involving the special contribution of some design experts and of the design network.

De Castelli is well-known all over the world for melting design and metal manufacturing, handcrafting skills and advanced technologies. In addition to furniture production, the company has expanded its projects by looking at important collaborations with well-known architects, becoming a partner for many design companies thanks to its on-going research of new solutions and uses for metals.

04-09.04.2017 A new exhibit concept for Arper designed by Studio MAIO

Arper’s new partner is the Barcelona-based architecture studio MAIO, founded by Maria Charneco, Alfredo Lérida, Guillermo López and Anna Puigjaner and specialized in the design of flexible systems for the definition of spaces. In collaboration with Jeannette Altherr – studio LA – in charge of the creative direction of Arper’s visual concept, MAIO has designed Arper’s stand with the objective of creating a space that best represents the interaction between architecture and Arper’s collections. A team of stylists and lighting designers contributed to this project which presents a new and highly innovative approach for Arper.

Studio MAIO explained the project thus: “The system we have designed for Arper consists of simple, modular elements that can be reorganized to best suit the different kinds of spaces in which they are used. These elements are complete structures in themselves, in that they are self-supporting, efficient and easy to assemble”.

Thanks to this new display system, at Pavilion 16 the space will be organized around a large central square leading to many rooms where the products will be displayed in ways designed to stimulate interaction. The rooms will be accessed primarily from the main square but will also be connected one another, allowing visitors an experiential visit. MAIO’s design presents modular rooms that can be compressed or expanded as required by the exhibition narrative of each collection on display. Along with unique flooring and walls, one of the most distinctive elements of this project is its ceilings, with their unusual shapes and variable geometries that help to shape the particular character of each room and transmit their distinctive atmosphere.

At Pavilion 22 Workplace 3.0 the same exhibition system takes on an entirely different meaning in terms of both shape and materials. The stand looks like a play of shadows and transparencies that enhances the continuity of space, thanks to the coating made of a translucent material which helps to increase the perception of space.

21.02.2017 2017. Tecno e Zanotta. Un disegno comune.

2017. Tecno e Zanotta. Un disegno comune.

Tecno, the historic brand founded in the 1950s by the Borsani brothers and led by Giuliano Mosconi since 2010, acquires a majority stake in Zanotta, one of Italian design’s most well-loved and important companies since the 1950s.

Tecno and Zanotta have two parallel stories, and they have decided to share their uniqueness, reputation and credibility to boost growth in the main international markets, aiming for a comprehensive offer for the contract and office system, the reference area of Tecno, as well as for the home and hospitality area, a sector in which Zanotta has always excelled.

Tecno and Zanotta, two companies that in their respective journeys have given meaning to the Italian design industry, with a highly anticipatory approach to the market in terms of innovation, both in terms of aesthetic and functional research and in attention to representing the values of Italian design and know-how.

Tecno has blended design and innovation from the beginning (1953), involving all stages of design, from the product to the installation. Tecno’s distinguishing features are its high-quality workmanship and continuous technological innovation, which in 2016 led to the creation of io.T “The intelligence of Tecno”, the first intelligent system of connected and interconnected furnishings.

From the beginning (1954), Zanotta made a strategic foundation for its development on creativity, research and innovation in design, on product quality, functionality, comfort and life, making this its most recognisable element, and on the concept that profit and culture could be made simultaneously. More than 298 Zanotta products, the result of the collaboration of 128 designers, are now present in 50 museums worldwide.

Today Tecno and Zanotta are undertaking a common project that permits improved synergies and commercial possibilities at an international level and will be managed with the most wide-ranging respect for the particular characters and identities of the two brands.

Tecno has been experiencing constant growth in the last five years and ends 2016 with 32 million euros, 30% growth with respect to 2015. The Zanotta operation launches a new group with a revenue of 60 million euros in 2017 and future growth forecast of 20% a year.

“I’m pleased with this operation,” affirms Giuliano Mosconi, Tecno Chairman and CEO, “which boosts development potential in the main global markets and sees our presence both reinforced in the office furniture sector and renewed in the home and hospitality segment in general.”

Eleonora Zanotta, Chair of Zanotta, confirms this and continues: “I am certain that the contribution of our expertise and product quality will be a new element of overall growth and that this synergy can represent an appropriate response to the expectations of an increasingly competitive market.”

The advisors who accompanied the initiative were lawyer Paolo Tanoni, NASaW Avvocati, Avvocati Associati and Berg Advisors, who assisted Tecno, and PiGreco Corporate Finance, the firm Giornelli Mercati and the Patron law firm, who assisted the selling shareholders of Zanotta

02.02.2017 The entrepreneur from Treviso, Mr Claudio Feltrin is elected President of Assarredo for the three-year period 2017-2019

The entrepreneur from Treviso, Mr Claudio Feltrin is elected President of Assarredo for the three-year period 2017-2019

The General Meeting of Assarredo, one of the major associations of FederLegnoArredo, held on 2 February 2017 in Milan at the Fondazione Giacomo Feltrinelli, elected Mr Claudio Feltrin, entrepreneur from Treviso and leader of Arper, President of the national association Assarredo for the three-year period 2017-2019

An important recognition of great significance for Claudio Feltrin who, thanks to the successful experiences gained and strategies implemented at the family business Arper, made his entrepreneurial expertise available to the Association and the companies in the furniture industry.

Four key words will characterise the presidency of Mr Feltrin in Assarredo: Listening, Transparency, Competitiveness and Internationalisation. These are the values that the entrepreneur adopted, spread and developed in the Venetian company Arper, founded and managed together with his family since the end of the ‘80s.

This programme is based on the awareness of how valuable internationalisation is and on the intention to listen to the entrepreneurs and companies of Assarredo, in order to develop association activities capable of supporting the companies within a complex and very competitive background such as the current one, so as to enhance and protect one of the Italian most distinctive businesses worldwide.

Claudio Feltrin: “I wish to thank all the Colleagues of the Association for their trust, expressed through this vote. I will start working immediately to translate the guidelines defined in my programme into real targets that we will pursue together, sharing ideas and paths. Our Association represents the excellence of the furniture industry, a sector in which our country represents an undisputed benchmark all over the world. Thus, our priority will be to ensure that the Italian companies in the Furniture industry are able to express their entrepreneurial and creative abilities at their best on the international scenario. I am honoured to take over from President Anzani, to whom I wish to express my gratitude for the invaluable contribution he has given, with his guide, to Assarredo, and I wish to express my best wishes to the Designated President of Federlegno, Mr Orsini.

Assarredo is the national Association of manufacturers of furniture, upholstery, kitchens, sleeping systems, furnishing accessories, and furniture for business. Founded in 1979, Assarredo is one of the ten associations members of FederlegnoArredo, the trade industrial confederation that represents the wood, cork, furniture and furnishing sectors. The task of Assarredo is to represent, support and protect the Italian companies of the furniture industry, promoting their interests at a local, national and international level.

Arper is an Italian company that manufactures and distributes chairs and tables worldwide, for communities, workplaces and home. The company - the brainchild of the Feltrin family - in 1989 launched an industrial project focused on design, and became a BtB company that uses new materials and technologies, mindful of environmental and social sustainability.

Under the lead of President Claudio Feltrin, who in 2016 took over his father Luigi, currently Honorary President, the company has always availed itself of the collaboration of designers capable of interpreting the brand at a design level, consistently with the corporate values that that account for today’s international standing of the company. Nowadays, Arper represents a thriving business with a turnover of Euro 67 million in 2015, up by 23% from 2014, and with a forecast for 2016 of a consolidated turnover in excess of Euro 70 million.

The company is an international structure with 11 showrooms in the major capitals worldwide. These spaces play different strategic roles for the development of the specific markets. Four showrooms are used as offices of the affiliates of the Group: New York (office of Arper USA), Dubai (office of Arper Middle East), London (office of Arper UK) and Tokyo (office of Arper Japan). Currently, two branches exist: Arper Sweden and Arper Singapore. Milan, Cologne, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Oslo, Chicago are used as exhibition areas and as places for the local design communities to meet and discuss. Additionally, there is an in-house showroom at the Headquarters in Treviso.
