CORTE DELLE DOLOMITI ex Villaggio ENI at Borca di Cadore

Between 1954 and 1963, Edoardo Gellner built the vacation resort at Borca di Cadore on commission from Enrico Mattei. A “social architecture” which chose to forego the easier route of stylistic imitation in favor of a modern unitary design that respects the environment, creating a resort in which, according to Gellner himself, “the innovative architectural concept effaces any relationship between esthetics and social distinction”. Starting in 2005, Umbrella has been entrusted with the establishment of a press office to publicize the rigorous plan by the MI.NO.TER SpA development company to restore the resort, paying particular attention to the architectural language and to the environmental and social concerns that represented a priority for the original commission.
